We sometimes never realize the impact a person makes on our lives until they are gone. As one of the founding members of The Desert Veterans of Wisconsin, Staff Sergeant Mark T. Christensen shared a vision with a handful of other Veterans. Their vision was to create a group geared toward helping Veterans and their unmet needs. The group was small, but the hearts behind the vision were immense. Almost 15 years later, the Desert Veterans of Wisconsin has grown into an organization that not only helps Veterans but it also changes lives.
Mark’s memory will forever live on with the Desert Veterans of Wisconsin. To ensure that happens, we have created the Staff Sargent Mark T. Christensen Memorial Community Involvement Scholarship.
This scholarship is open to the spouses, children, and grandchildren of honorably discharged Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. To be considered for the scholarship, we will require two things.
The first is to apply. The second is to write a one-page essay telling us about yourself, your educational aspirations, and what you do in the community to help others.
Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be distributed to the applicants who, as selected by the family of Staff Sergeant Mark T. Christensen, exhibit the same love of their community as Mark did.
Please mail the completed application and essay to:
